Women’s Health

Medex Urgent Care: Women's Health Services

Whether Medex is your primary care provider or not, you can walk in for women’s health services like birth control consultations, pap smears, pregnancy tests, and the evaluation and treatment of urinary tract infections, bladder infections, and yeast infections. While Medex does not offer mammograms, we can provide referrals as needed.

Birth Control

Medex Urgent Care offers in-person consultations for birth control. However, we suggest seeing an OB-GYN if you have never taken oral contraceptives before. Following the CDC’s recommendations for personalized birth control, Medex typically doesn’t start new prescriptions for birth control. But, we can renew prescriptions for oral contraceptives if Medex is your primary care provider (PCP) and you’re experiencing issues with your current contraceptive or need a refill. Medex does not insert intrauterine devices or intradermal implants; for those or other non-pill contraceptives, please consult an OB-GYN.

Pap Smear

People aged 21 to 65 who have a cervix should get a pap smear every three years to screen for cervical cancer, unless otherwise advised by a medical professional. Once the results of your pap smear are ready, generally within a week, you’ll be notified promptly.

Pregnancy Tests

Medex Urgent Care can perform urine and blood pregnancy tests on-site. Our lab can deliver results quickly, and based on the outcome, we can answer your questions, provide support, or refer you to specialists for follow-up appointments.

Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs)

Medex Urgent Care evaluates symptoms of urinary tract infections (UTIs), including bladder infections and kidney infections. We conduct on-site urine testing and send a sample for urine culture to identify the bacteria causing the infection. This allows us to ensure you get the appropriate treatment. We can also provide prescription medications during your visit to start your recovery as quickly as possible.

Yeast Infections

Medex Urgent Care can help women who suspect they have yeast or bacterial infections. It’s crucial to seek medical attention if you think you might have a yeast infection. Your provider may perform lab tests and provide prescription medication on-site during your visit.
