To obtain medical marijuana in Pennsylvania, a state-approved physician must confirm that you have a qualifying medical condition. At Medex Urgent Care, we are pleased to offer this certification service. Our certified physicians are connected to the Medical Marijuana Registry and can submit your certification directly.  

How to Get Medical Marijuana in Pennsylvania

To join Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana program, follow these four steps:

  1. Register with the Medical Marijuana Registry.
  2. Get certified by a state-approved physician.
  3. Pay for a medical marijuana ID card.
  4. Visit an approved dispensary in Pennsylvania to obtain your medical marijuana.

Costs

Medical marijuana treatment isn’t covered by insurance.

  • Initial certification and examination: $150
  • Annual recertification: $75

These costs are separate from the fee required by Pennsylvania for the medical marijuana card.

  • Intractable seizures
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Neurodegenerative diseases
  • Neuropathies
  • Opioid use disorder when conventional treatments are ineffective or contraindicated
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Severe chronic or intractable pain, particularly of neuropathic origin
  • Sickle cell anemia
  • Terminal illnesses
  • Tourette syndrome
